On a holiday traditionally spent with family, four Forsythe Middle School students and their parents spent part of their Thanksgiving helping the less fortunate in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area.
Eighth grade students Olivia Wright, Hayley Marchand, Iris McNally, and seventh grader Christopher Van Lent volunteered to help feed the homeless during the Ann Arbor Vineyard Thanksgiving Day dinner this week. Olivia spent time serving coffee and tea on Thursday, while Hayley and Iris helped prep the turkey, ham and green bean casserole on Wednesday, and Christopher set up the tables for the dinner. All four students signed up for the event here on Anna’s Kindness Facebook page and were accompanied by their moms.
The annual dinner attracted nearly 200 guests who were treated to turkey, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, pies, cakes, and more. The dinner guests were also allowed to select several warm clothing items from the ’boutique’ which had been set up, including winter coats, gloves, and hats.
A huge thanks to the Forsythe students and their parents for taking time away from their holiday plans in order to help the less fortunate celebrate their Thanksgiving.
