It was a snowy, cold 15-degree Friday night capping off a Christmas week which had dished out harshly cold temps each day.
Even so, Jennifer Haft and Bonnie Lamb bundled up their children (+1) and helped Anna’s Kindness feed the homeless at Liberty Park Plaza Friday night in Ann Arbor.
Twin sisters Estelle and Olivia helped their mother Jen hand out pizza, Mya and Cassie worked with Bonnie to provide coffee and hot chocolate, and Natalie and Mason teamed up to hand out bags of groceries and water.
Not only did the families brave the snow and cold, but so did the guests they were serving, which surprised Olivia, a 5th grader at Wines Elementary School.
“There were more people there than I expected,” she said.
And those guests were thrilled to see the children there volunteering.
“Everyone was so appreciative and thankful,” said Mya, a 7th grader at Beach Middle School in Chelsea who — along with Cassie — were former teammates of Anna’s on the Hurricanes Fastpitch 12U travel softball team.
Natalie, a classmate of Anna’s at Forsythe Middle School, agreed.
“They were all so happy,” she said.
Thank you so much to the children and their mothers for joining with Anna’s Kindness to help feed the less fortunate, and to The Original Cottage Inn for supporting the volunteers.
