Clague Middle School students Charlie Calvin, Tarun Swaminathan, Nicolas Langdon, and Tai Karir get a quick crash course in how to play bingo.
It’s a generation that has grown up on Angry Birds, Pokemon Go, and Fortnite, so forgive them if they needed a tutorial on just how to play that age-old classic … B-I-N-G-O.

Charlie Calvin, Journea Franklin and Arwyn Wilder push the carts filled with snacks down the hallway.
Not classic enough, apparently.
Many of the Clague Middle School students who volunteered with Anna’s Kindness Saturday did not know the rules of B-I-N-G-O (if it’s not a top-selling app, forget about it). So they were given a quick course before they began gathering residents for the afternoon game at Glacier Hills Care & Rehabilitation Center.
It was another lively Saturday afternoon at Glacier Hills filled with cries of ‘bingo’ and songs and winning cards and prizes.
Sixth grader Xingzhi Tan, seventh graders Khalil Jones and Tai Karir, eighth grader Nicolas Langdon sat with the residents and helped them play their cards. There were winning cards at all their tables, so they brought good luck to the seniors they were sitting with.
Meanwhile, some of the Clague volunteers were going room to room in the rehab center, offering popcorn, cupcakes, and ice cream to the residents who didn’t make it down to the bingo hall. Sixth grader Tarun Swaminathan and seventh grader Journea Franklin pushed the treat carts, while sixth grader Charlie Calvin delivered cupcakes and and eighth grader Arwyn Wilder passed out popcorn and ice cream bars.
It was our first Anna’s Kindness event specifically for Clague Middle School, and we’d like to thank Principal Che Carter and Asst. Principal Jennifer Daddow for their support of Anna’s Kindness. We’d also like to thank Bob and Roxanne at Glacier Hills for assuring the student volunteers had a terrific afternoon brightening the day of the senior citizens.
