Anna’s Kindness volunteers from Forsythe and Clague middle schools teamed up to feed the homeless in downtown Ann Arbor Friday night.
It was a cold evening, but only relatively so, given how reasonably warm the fall has been thus far. And considering the rain from the previous two days had finally stopped — and no wind accompanied the cold — there was a lot to be thankful for.
And the guests were appreciative.
Anna’s Kindness volunteers served hot beverages, pizza, and handed out bags of food to the guests who had assembled in Liberty Plaza for the free weekly meal. The meal is sponsored by Vineyard Church and occurs every Friday evening in Liberty Plaza.
Forsythe Middle School 8th graders Arjun Joshi and Bailey Edison served hot coffee and drinks; Clague Middle School 8th graders Dominick Franklin, and Kriya Jaiganesh handed out slices of pizza; Clague 8th grader Khalil Jones and Skyline High School freshman Arya Joshi passed out bags, cartons and cans of food; and Anna’s brother, Alex, handed out a little dessert: Halloween candy.
Thank you to our co-hosts Robin and Mike Edison, Cathy Sanborn, and Kate Lewit, and to UM students Ina, Vic, and Bryana who helped the students with the meal service.
