They were tasked with selecting only good used clothing, and they took their mission seriously.
Anna’s Kindness volunteers from Forsythe Middle School spent Thursday night at the Michigan Foster Care Closet, sorting through piles of donated clothing and toys, inspecting them closely for any signs of damage, stains or other inadequacies. Anything that didn’t pass their inspection was put into bags and would be sent out for recycling. Only the near-best would do for our middle school inspectors, who worked meticulously to ensure that the clothing that was going to be offered to foster families was good quality.
Forsythe eighth grader Rylan Kahle, seventh grader Mark Kalosa-Kenyon, and sixth graders Marco Rogers, Cecilia Miller and Sophia McClatchey did great work in not only sifting through the donations, but they also helped stock and organize the backroom for the Closet.
Some of the students also had an opportunity to help two young foster care boys look around and play while their parents shopped. While Marco and Sophia spent time walking around the closet with the 4-year-old, Cecilia helped the dad care for his 18-month-old.
Thank you to Forsythe parent Cristina Rojas for hosting the Anna’s Kindness event, and to Rachael and the wonderful Michigan Foster Care Closet for allowing us to help with their mission.
