Glacier Hills long-term care facility’s annual Christmas Party puts most holiday office parties to shame. Multiple floors of live entertainment, caroling, a variety of food options … it is quite the extravaganza.
But not every wheelchair-bound resident has family members visiting to take them around the center to enjoy the festivities.
And that’s where Anna’s Kindness volunteers stepped in.
Fourteen middle school students and their parents from four Ann Arbor middle schools paired up with senior citizens with no family to ensure that everyone at Glacier Hills was able to enjoy the holiday Christmas Party.
The students helped push their senior citizen from floor to floor to enjoy the wide varieties of live music and special foods. And yet even with all the live music options on each floor, the most popular entertainment of the evening may well have been the photo booth, where the students and their resident could dress up for fun pictures. It served as a great keepsake for the residents to remember their evening with their middle schooler.
Thanks to Clague Middle School’s Karishma Mathew, Daniel and Michael Tan, Aubrey Gargan, Ashe and Evers Baskey, Colin Pifer, and assistant principal Jennifer Daddow; Slauson Middle School’s Ana Eisele, Maxim Baker, Jake Williams, Tappan Middle School’s Max Swanson, Cael Finnane and Andrew Leo, and Forsythe Middle School’s Heather Hale, Grieta Ham, and Kristina Nickson (and their parents) for making certain that even residents without family were able to enjoy the annual Christmas party.
And a huge thank you to Kate Lewit, Leanne Hinz, and Christine Hale for co-hosting this large special holiday volunteer opportunity.
