Perhaps the only thing better than going to your own prom, is going to a prom for those with special needs and helping them celebrate an amazing evening.
Anna’s Kindness students joined the more than 215,000 volunteers worldwide in celebrating A Night to Shine on Friday night at 242 Community Church. 242 was one of the 721 churches around the world hosting a prom for more than 115,000 special needs adults, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
Anna’s Kindness students cheered the guests as they arrived on the red carpet, and then danced with them in the packed auditorium. Serving on the host team, our volunteers crowded around the auditorium entrance high-fiving and cheering the kings and queens of the prom as they made their way down the red carpet for a night to remember. After dinner, they danced the evening away with the guests of honor who were dressed in formal attire and adorned with tiaras and crowns.
Thank you to Anna’s mother, Fran, for hosting the Anna’s Kindness volunteers. And a very special thank you to Forsythe Middle School’s Halle Woodard and Sydney Sawyer; Keegan Fraley of Slauson Middle School; Hayley Marchand, Tessa Hanrath and Megan Faunce of Pioneer High School; and Deon Wilson, Maddie Johal-Smith and Julia Tsutsul of Skyline High School for making it such a special evening for the attendees.
