It was wicked windy and cold with traces of snow Sunday morning, a brazenly brrrrrr way for November to arrive. But the foster dogs at Mikey & Me pay no nevermind to weather. At 11 a.m., it’s time for their morning walks come snow or high water, and a bundled up bunch of Anna’s Kindness volunteers were there for them.
Our first volunteer event of the year was spent walking and playing with the five foster dogs — Bailey, Tux, Miles, Ellie, and Valentine — at Mikey & Me, a facility that houses rescue dogs and helps to find them forever homes. And as the high cold winds whipped across the fields outside of the dogs’ barn, our intrepid volunteers made certain the dogs received their walks so they could stretch their legs and, you know, take care of their business.
Thank you to Forsythe middle schoolers Madeline Clarke, Keating Holland, Nico and Toby Colias, and St. Paul Lutheran’s Ivy Ball and their parents for helping care for these wonderful rescued dogs. A special thank you to Dan DePew and his Mikey & Me volunteers for hosting our group.
