The 2018 Forsythe Middle School Anna’s Kindness Award nominees and recipients.
We honored a new class of Anna’s Kindness Award nominees and recipients today at Forsythe Middle School, which capped off a terrific year at Anna’s middle school in Ann Arbor.
Congratulations to 2018 award recipients Dahlia Taylor, Hank Roebuck, Sophia Morgan and Hayley Marchand, as well as nominees Evelyn Kidle, Carter Kerbawy, Ryan Thomas-Palmer, Alexis Dolan, Jamar Gardner, Zach Greenberg, Alexander Bowles, Ava Prude, Julia Sitz, Peter Cohn, William Kersh, Brooklyn Warren, Samantha Towers, Iris McNally, Jordan Hall, and Isha Saini.
We’d like to share just a short excerpt about each of the four recipients from the nominating teacher(s):

The 2018 Anna’s Kindness Award recipients are (from left) Sophia Morgan, Hayley Marchand, Dahlia Taylor, and Hank Roebuck.
Sixth grade recipient Dahlia Taylor always looks at the upside of things. She looks to be helpful to all students in a classroom, and she does not talk about students in a negative way. She bought candygrams for new kids at school. She’s an example of how students should treat each other, and is a joy to be around.
Seventh grade recipient Hank Roebuck loves to help others. Whether it is helping a teacher organize a classroom, helping students work through a tough math problem, or helping a wheelchair-bound student with speaking difficulties work in a group, he always steps up. And he always does each task with a smile.
We had two eighth grade recipients this year, and both were nominated by 3 teachers each.
The first, Sophia Morgan, is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. She is forgiving and gives kids the benefit of the doubt. She wants others to be successful and wants to support them in making their day better. She has volunteered with Anna’s Kindness and also volunteers with First United Methodist Church’s “Feed The Hungry program, as well as Holy Ascension’s “Feeding the Homeless” efforts.
Our second 8th grade recipient, Hayley Marchand, wants to make the world a better place, and so her main focus is to work with organizations that serve others. She has volunteered on countless Anna’s Kindness projects and is planning a Scout project to help hospital patients. She is a kind, loving, sincere student and makes every student feel special and sincerely becomes their friend. The world is a better place because she is in it.
Reading over all the nomination forms, there were so many deserving Forsythe students who share Anna’s spirit of kindness, compassion, and service to others. Thank you to Principal Angela Newing, Julie Monan, Candee Klein, Joanne Keeling, Angelica McCann, Cary Kocher, and Joshua Loyer for helping us honor these wonderful students.
